The objective of the Irrigation Technology Initiative (ITI) is to provide system assessments to help producers gain a better understanding of their water system’s efficiency. The approach will utilize techniques and lessons learned from similar technology projects previously focused on the Rattlesnake Creek region (CIG Project).
An irrigation engineer will evaluate your complete irrigation system to provide a better understanding of the producer's irrigation system's efficiency. These evaluations identify issues that may be reducing performance. To get started, simply complete the onboarding steps and an irrigation engineer will be in contact to conduct the evaluation.
The ITI is available for any irrigator within the boundaries of the groundwater management districts. This project is funded in-part by the State of Kansas Water Plan Fund and is limited, so don't hesitate to contact the office for additional details.
The District board has limited program funding to a maximum of two evaluations per entity per calendar year.
This is a cooperative project with Kansas Department of Agriculture's Division of Conservation and the five Groundwater Management Districts.
Prior to the system assessment, the water user is asked to complete onboarding steps that are broken down into nine categories. Upon completion and submission of the onboarding material, the water user may be eligible for compensation.
Applications shall be submitted online using the button below. If additional assistance is needed, please contact our office.
Once the system assessment is completed, a final analysis report will identify system improvements that can potentially conserve significant amount of water each year. Cost share for the system improvements is now available to make it easier to achieve water conservation.

To provide financial assistance across the region, the cost share is limited to $6,000 per pivot (maximum two pivots) with a total maximum of $12,000 per applicant. To be eligible for the full $12,000, the applicant must have completed two separate ITI System Evaluations. A separate application is required for each pivot system.
